New Song: Trust You

When worry and anxiety overwhelms you, what do you do?

I’ve come up with lots of different ways to deal with anxiety in my life.

Sometimes I’ve locked myself in my room and have isolated myself from people, opened up Netflix and binge-watched show upon show. Anybody hear me?

Other times, I’ve fought to keep myself busy and distracted with a million things…running around with endless activities to numb the scream building up inside. Anybody feel me?

At other times, I’ve fallen on my knees before my Saviour Jesus and cried out for Him to take my burdens. “Jesus,” I’ll pray, “You invited me to come to You when I am heavy burdened, and said that you would give me rest. You promised me that when I join under the weight of Your yoke, I would find it’s easy and light. You also said to cast all my anxiety on You because You care for me. So I’m throwing it all on You today, Lord! I can’t carry this anxiety, and I’m so thankful You don’t want me to or expect me to carry it either. Your shoulders are more than big enough!”

I wrote the song “Trust You” in May 2014, when I was going through an intensely difficult time. Life just didn’t make sense! Oh, it hurts my heart to think back to my 29-year-old self, aching to figure out why things were the way they were, and what God was up to in the midst of it! I’m sooooo thankful that God walks with us through our difficulties, because He always gave me encouraging words from my Christian brothers and sisters, or led me to a verse in the Bible, or led me to a sermon I needed to listen to, or have a conversation with a friend about something I really needed to hear! So in the midst of my confusion and aching heart, I wrote this song.

Chorus

“Help me to trust You with all my heart, and stop my doubting, and know that you are good! You’ve got the whole world in your big hands, and I know you love me! Yes I know you love me!”

Many of you know this passage, but I encourage you to take another     s – l – o – w   read…

MEDITATE on these words, and ask the Holy Spirit to let it sink deep down into your soul.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart

    and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Oh Lord, thank You for Your promise that You will make our paths straight as we submit and trust in You! Thank You that no matter what happens in our lives, You will work it all out for our good. (Romans 8:28) Precious Lord, Your heart for us is so tender and kind. <3

One last thing, friends…

Get to know the One you’re trusting in.

Would you trust a complete stranger to hold on to your wallet or watch your baby as you run to do an errand? Of course not! You would only trust a person with something (or someone) so valuable if you knew them very well. In such trust, there is absolutely no fear or worry! How much more should we trust our Heavenly Father, who sees all, knows all, and most importantly, LOVES US with such insane love… the kind of love that sent Jesus to the Cross to die in our place!

Your faith in God will only be as radical as the depths to which you know Him.

Jesus talked about how faith the size of a mustard seed can tell a mountain to throw itself into the sea (Matthew 17:20). Faith in Jesus heals us, changes and transforms us, and does miracles in us and through us. The deeper our knowledge of Him is, the deeper our FAITH is. The deeper our faith is, the more exciting and thrilling our lives are! Ah, the LIFE that Jesus has prepared for us is so exciting!! If you haven’t experienced excitement in your relationship with Jesus…don’t stay there! Don’t settle for a mundane “normal” life. What are you waiting for? Ask Him to light the fire of passion in your heart. Say, “Lord, please do whatever it takes to make me on fire for you. Let me experience the exciting kind of life You’ve prepared for me. I no longer want to live a mundane life. You have my permission to rock my world!”
