Happy Thanksgiving! (What a difference a year makes!)

I have a big smile on my face today. Thinking about where I was one year ago at the previous family Thanksgiving, and where I am today…is mind-blowing!

One year ago was one of the BEST family Thanksgivings ever! My brother and sister-in-law and their two beautiful little girls live out in BC. Last year they came to Ontario, and we all celebrated a family Thanksgiving together in lieu of a Christmas together. We celebrated at my Aunt & Uncle’s house in Georgetown, and a lot of the extended family was there too.

I’m kind of cheesy this way, but I love getting together and going around the room talking about what we’re thankful for! To me, it’s kind of neat to look at the highlights of what’s going on in our lives from year to year. Last Thanksgiving, I was so thankful I was single. I remember feeling so free, and so excited about life as a single woman – able and willing to go wherever God called me, and whenever and however! I was thankful for my job as a teacher and performer and worship-leader. The thankfulness filled my heart.

Only about 3 weeks later, I met the man who would become my husband…WHAAAAT?!?!?

God has a sense of humour!

Today I’m sitting in a beautiful home that I share with my husband, Anthony. We LOVE being together. This morning we shared breakfast and a coffee while talking about life and God. I LOVE this man! I’m so thankful for how God has worked in my life and in Anthony’s life to bring us together, and the way He worked has made us appreciate each other every day SO DEEPLY!

We’ve been married for 3 months now, and we can’t believe that we’ve known each other for less than a year still. It feels so normal and comfortable, as if we’ve known each other for our whole lives! Being married is such a blessing. I’m not going to pretend it’s perfect though…it’s also hard at times, because you’ve got two imperfect people in a relationship, and you won’t always agree…:) But being with your best friend on a daily basis, being able to hold nothing back…is so wonderful.

So this year, 2016, I am thankful for my husband, Anthony – everything that he is, and how much he loves me and takes care of me! Thank you, Father God, for this most wonderful gift in the world!
